Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2024
The beautiful American dream arrives in Los Angeles.
Demna's "American Dream" is filled with tote bags, sports outfits, oversized sunglasses, sports bags and coffee mugs. The designer presented her latest designs in a setting that could only exist in the City of Angels: palm trees lined the street that served as a makeshift catwalk, and the famous Hollywood sign could be seen in the distance.

The collection was full of all the modern Balenciaga elements you'd expect from the Demna era - this time split between casual outfits, outfits for real life and outfits for the red carpet.

First came outfits geared towards the stereotypical LA lifestyle (think hooded sweatshirts thrown over bomber jackets or pulled on over sweatpants with gold chains). Underwear peeked out from the top of the tracksuit belt;
Models walked down the sidewalk with phones to their ears, and some carried Erewhon leather shopping bags, part of a new collaboration with the French fashion house.
The show's soundtrack was created by Demna's husband, BFRND, to mimic the sound of a radio commercial. One of them welcomes "the poetry of existence will be revealed to you" with a lively female voice. "It's about having a good time, drinking spirulina juices and putting the phone down to have real human social interactions. All good stuff," Demna says of the fake ads. "A celebration of what I love about America - and it comes from here."
It's the promise that these clothes won't just change your body, they can change your life. Become a celebrity by dressing like one. This is the greatest American dream.
