Freedom in Calvin Klein style

This summer, Calvin Klein emphasized that he has always thought about American women and that changes over time have brought a new sense of freedom. However, his vision extends beyond gender and touches on the brand's overall message. Today, Veronica Leoni is taking up the baton, working on both the women's and men's collections during her tenure at Calvin Klein. Her mission is to translate this idea of freedom into the language of contemporary fashion.

A collection between casual and artistic

Her second collection, presented at the Brant Foundation in the East Village, draws inspiration from the neighborhood and its spirit. The morning rituals of the residents—a stop at a small neighborhood store and coffee on the way to work—became the aesthetic of the clothing. The models walked the runway with key chains in hand, and the bags had a deliberately crumpled look that reinforced the casualness. Among the highlights were a man wearing Calvin Klein boxer shorts under a voluminous jacket, paired with a striped shirt and tie, and a woman wearing pants with built-in briefs – a reference to the brand's iconic provocative ads and the current fashion for yoga leggings. Particularly impressive was the striped robe worn by Mariacarla Boscono – in fact, a precisely crafted laser-cut leather garment that looked like something out of a dream.

Some looks reflected this casual elegance more directly. Models dressed in brown double-breasted coats, boots, and jeans, or in ultra-thin leather jackets paired with chinos, really looked like girls from the East Village. The "non-standard" suits with mismatched jackets and trousers were also very convincing.

Veronica Leoni presented a collection that combines personal vision and references to Calvin Klein's iconic codes. Some elements—such as paper-wrinkled coats and dresses or the dress woven from underwear belts—impressed with their artistry but raised questions about practicality. In the spirit of Klein, however, there is a clear desire for modernity through the elimination of the superfluous, where austerity goes hand in hand with lightness.

With the third season approaching, the question arises as to what clothes Leoni herself would choose in the morning and what she finds inspiring in her surroundings. After all, Calvin Klein's strength has always been in the simplicity of his cuts and his ability to make the model look and feel good without unnecessary elements.
