Gucci's Jackie, Diana and Horsebit bags have made a comeback in recent years thanks to reissues of these iconic designs. Now it's the turn of the Indy bag, first introduced in 2006 when the brand was under the direction of Frida Giannini. Pixie Geldof, a model and singer, revealed that she has started using her white Indy bag again, rediscovered thanks to a recent move, then Misha Barton was probably the poster girl for this bag.
In fact, the Indy, with its curvy silhouette, fringed leather handles, metal plate corners and stiff handle inspired by the steering wheel of a race car, was often seen on the arm of the British actress and model in the first decade of the 2000s. Her other admirers included Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, Lindsay Lohan and Blake Lively/Serena van der Woodsen of "Gossip Girl," who were won over by the hottest younger sister of classic models such as Gucci's "Jackie 1961" and "Diana."

"For me, the Indy bag embodies the main characteristics of the Gucci woman: sensuality and strength," the fashion house's then-creative director Frida Giannini said of the bag, named after Indy race cars.

Indy's new moment of glory is no accident. In fact, the design is also inspired by the boho vibe of the 1970s, a style that is now being adopted by many brands, most notably Chloé with the Chemena Kamali shows. Gucci's Indy bag is definitely experiencing a renaissance, capitalising on the current interest in nostalgic designs.

Very popular at the moment are the embellished and special versions of Indy, such as the one with purple and red appliqués, in which Misha Barton was photographed, or the Gossip Girl model Serena-Blake Lively, which embodies another trend at the moment - the zebra print. Pretty and easier are the numerous versions in neutral shades, in soft nappa leather or monogrammed canvas, for everyday wear. Below, we present a selection of Indy's best vintage bags right now.
