Like many major cities in the world, London has a river running through it - the Thames. A famous waterway, the hero of many literary works (from William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair to Charles Dickens' Great Expectations) and central to the existence of the people who live around it. So it's not surprising that the website for The Savoy, a historic London hotel, clearly states "the only five star hotel on the banks of the Thames". Opened in August 1889, The Savoy became a central passageway for the movement, travel and meetings of the 'beautiful world'. It is the cradle of many stories, including that of Gucci. In fact, many years ago, a young Guccio Gucci was hired as the hotel's concierge. It was a role that allowed him to soak up the elegance of the customers passing by, creating a vision for himself. Observing the exquisite luggage of the guests, he conceived the idea of his own brand, built on a foundation of travel and exploration, inspired by the stories that each adventure holds.

It can only start here, from a hotel on London's Strand - the Gucci Gift campaign developed by the house's creative director Sabato de Sarno, which will unfold in four chapters over the festive season. The concept revolves around the idea that moments of joy shared with those we call family (whether by birth, fate or choice) become meaningful memories that resonate long after the holidays are over.

Thus, bonds of affection and love change the meaning of the gift, which is reimagined as an exchange of sincere gestures between the giver and the receiver. The characters of the Maison Global Ambassadors and Friends campaign, within individual chapters perfectly linked thematically and aesthetically, follow one another in a crescendo of joy. At the centre of it all is the joy and warmth of sharing, which forms a series of vibrant paintings that give space and resonance to the ready-to-wear garments of the latest collections alongside iconic accessories.

The first chapter of this story features Jessica Chastain, accompanied by her best friend Danielle Pizzorni, whose presence immediately brings us back to the concept of the family of choice. Some of the Maison's most iconic designs, such as Jackie 1961 and Bamboo 1947, worn by the Oscar-winning actress herself (in 2022 for her role in the film Tammy Faye's Eyes), find their place in this narrative.
