Mugler's Spring/Summer 2024 collection is an impressive and dynamic show that combines Cadwallader's appreciation for the power of women with respect for aquatic dwellers.
The catwalk was a dreamscape of water.
The garments have elements of fluidity and rigidity, inspired by typical sea creatures from jellyfish to seashells. Resembling anatomical structures, 3D printed 'glass' bodysuits and resin peplums are styled with elements that embody movement. The catwalk was star-studded, with top models such as Anok Yai, Irina Shayk and celebrities such as Angela Bassett and Paris Hilton wearing couture on the runway: Bassett was impeccably dressed in black chiffon, while Hilton wore a black corset and mini skirt. Using specific methods of craftsmanship, Cadwallader paid homage to the quintessential haute couture collections of the 1990s while bringing to life silhouettes inspired by a nostalgic part of the director's upbringing.
