At Balenciaga's Spring/Summer 2024 show, we saw everything we usually expect from the designer. There were, of course, deconstructed black trench coats, simple pleated floor-length dresses covered in flowers, pantsuits , jackets with extra-wide shoulder lines, jeans and hooded sweatshirts with a few larger numbers.

Demna's mother
But let's be honest: what made us watch the series all the way through was the "cast". Demna's mother opened the show, followed by Russian model and influencer Renata Litvinova, Katie Horine, Diane Pernet, Amanda Lepore. The soundtrack was provided by Isabelle Huppert, who read instructions on how to sew a jacket. The shoot lasted an hour, according to the same Demna. At the end of the dictation, Huppert's speech reaches speed-reading level - and all to a psychedelic beat.

Renata Litvinova
"You know, I wanted to show that fashion is hard work (...) As intense as the process is, it's not about marketing or business strategy. It's about creativity and craftsmanship."

Amanda Lepore
