"My idea was to remove everything that wasn't necessary and only add what was really needed on a blank sheet of paper. This is a new chapter for Saint Laurent."
Anthony Vaccarello

Saint Laurent's winter 2023 collection reflects the essence of the brand's classic style, with precision, emotion and discretion at its core. Artistic Director Anthony Vaccarello combined these core values with his own to inspire the collection, resulting in familiar silhouettes with sharp edges.

This womenswear collection features masculine motifs in the form of stripes, tartans and checks. However, feminine ease is evident in the chiffon, crepe de chine and chiffon elements as well as the sheer stockings.

Reminiscent of the brand's beginnings, the venue for the show during Paris Fashion Week is inspired by the ballroom of the Hotel Intercontinental, where the brand presented all of its haute couture collections between 1975 and 2001. In this new space, Vaccarello takes the symbols of this rich period - striking bronze chandeliers and a uniquely shaped catwalk - and integrates them into a more modern, Art Deco-inspired, black box-like décor.
