Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2024 Collection
At the COP 28 climate change conference, Stella McCartney presented her Pre-Fall 2024 collection - a fashion manifesto for a sustainable, cruelty-free future. The designer demonstrated how fashion can be part of the solution, not the problem, to the environmental and ethical issues facing the world. She showcased her innovations in vegan and eco-friendly fabrics, such as BioPuff, a vegan alternative to down made from reeds from wetland bushes.

She said, "If someone looks and realizes that 100 million animals are killed every year, if even one person here can digest that information and think that my next purchase is not going to be leather - hopefully any information that people get can help them be conscious about their consumption."

BioPuff is a revolutionary material that is fluffy, warm and waterproof, just like real down but without the cruelty. McCartney used BioPuff to create a fluffy version of his famous Falabella bag, which is now made from recycled polyester. He also uses BioPuff to create cozy jackets and coats perfect for winter.

The theme of the collection is birds, because McCartney loves them and wants to protect them from the harm done by the fashion industry. She uses bird motifs in prints, embroidery and appliqués on dresses, tops and skirts. She has also created stunning party looks with pleated and ruffled tulle that look like feathers but without harming the birds. One of the most striking designs is a yellow organza skirt cut to resemble real feathers.
Stella also mixed masculine and feminine styles in her collection, showing how a plaid jacket can be paired with a lace dress to look elegant. She is a master at mixing different influences and creating harmony in her creations.
