The denim bag - a safe acquisition for autumn

On the fashion front, brands such as Diesel and Loewe have demonstrated once again this season that the obsession with a throwback to the 2000s is far from over. The trend really took off three years ago when Generation Z started wearing ripped jeans and tops with silk scarves in TikTok. Shortly after, this style appeared on the catwalks of the trendiest fashion houses. For autumn-winter 2024-2025, in addition to Juicy Couture's rhinestone glasses, tracker hats and peach leather tracksuits, another key element of the era is returning to our wardrobes: the denim bag.
You only have to look at Diesel's latest collection to realise denim's influence on the fashion world. The Italian fashion house, now headed by Glenn Martens, has made denim a staple material of its collections. The designer has managed to breathe new life into the brand since announcing his appointment in 2020. For his autumn-winter 2024-2025 wardrobe, he revisited denim, reimagining it with details straight out of the 2000s. For example, a bag made from faded denim is embellished with faux fur.

Fashion houses and designers have understood the sense of nostalgia that drives consumers. Since fashion is a perpetual reboot, any trend that has had its moments of glory (Generation Y inevitably remembers a time when Paris Hilton and Britney Spears swore by denim bags) has made a comeback at one time or another, and this handbag trend is one of them. One thing's for sure - this trend is likely to remain firmly in its new position as a must-have fashion item.
