VERSACE GIVES ITS CLOTHES A PUNCH LOOK FOR THE FALL OF 2024.

Over the past few seasons, Donatella Versace has attempted to curb Versace's sexy bad-girl aesthetic through simpler silhouettes with clean lines and nostalgic references to her brother Gianni Versace's designs from the 1990s. This has resulted in collections that are minimalist and even conservative, as in the suit-filled Fall 2023 collection, or delicate, in the case of Mary Jane's parade of pastel mini dresses and shoes for Spring 2024. But for fall 2024, she brought back some edginess.

Without straying too far from the brand's recent focus on tailoring, Versace incorporated '80s punk accents into a suit-filled collection that seemed designed to transport one from the boardroom to the underground club. There's red plaid, belts with chains, crystal embellishments, augmented shoulders, oversized knits, full-hole cuts, a fitted jumpsuit with prints, and lots of shiny black, red, and brown leather - used for outerwear, suits, gloves, bags, and flat studded shoes.

The models wore heavy black eyeliner and in some cases spiked hair - another clue to the punk theme. The cast included the usual personalities like Gigi Hadid and Amelia Grey, as well as future model Julez Smith (son of Solange Knowles).

The most striking looks appeared at the end of the show: body-hugging dresses in leather and metallic mesh with corset heels and an intriguing draping effect around the hips. It seems to me that these are the most likely models from this collection to appear in future editorials or on celebrities - Anne Hathaway even wore the red one in the front row.
