The balloon dress: the must-have fashion choice for autumn

Each season has its own clothing trend. An icon for an entire generation, Zendaya never does anything like the rest when it comes to fashion. Proof of this is the latest look she wore on the streets of New York, which left no one indifferent.
Zendaya always makes strong and charismatic appearances. Like a fashion chameleon, it's hard not to acknowledge how much she's managed to make a name for herself in this field... With the help of celebrity stylist Lowe Roach (who also cultivated Celine Dion's fashion image), the young woman packs daring outfits, between collectible vintage outfits and creations off the beaten path. She's attracting attention with the iconic Mugler robotic jumpsuit she wore to promote Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part II, or the Cinderella-style dress she wore to the 2019 Met Gala.

So it's not surprising that the actress causes a stir with every appearance. Her latest appearance? After the screening of Dune alongside Timothy Chalamet and Austin Butler, Zendaya was spotted on the streets of New York in a dress from the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2025 fashion show. The dress featured volumes borrowed from the balloon trend seen on many catwalks this season including Coperni, Marine Serre and Conner Ives.

But before there was the bubble dress, there was the skirt... Also known as the bubble skirt or the puff skirt, it was created in the 1950s by Givenchy and Dior before becoming a hit on the dancefloor in the 1980s. Its voluminous shape appealed to celebrities such as Lady Diana, who opted for a striped balloon skirt at Cannes in 1987.
